I.B.E. W.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is the largest electrical union in the world. The I.B.E.W. represents worker's rights in all area of the electrical industry. The I.B.E.W. is truly a union of "Hearts and Minds".
N.E.C.A.
The National Electrical Contractors Association is the managements association for electrical contractors. N.E.C.A. represents thousands of employers who guarantee their work and perform quality work on time and on budget. N .E. C. N.J.A.T.C.
The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee developed uniform standard that are adopted and used nationwide to select and train thousands of qualified men and women. The N.J.A.T.C., the I.B.E.W. and N.E.C.A. organizations have hundreds of local programs offering apprenticeships and training in the following areas.

Requirements for Apprenticeship
The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship shall be without discrimination because of race: color, religion, national origin or sex.

Starting in January of 2003, applications will be received from qualified applicants year round for the wireman apprenticeship program. Applications will be accepted, in PERSON ONLY, from 1 :00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays (excluding holidays), at the Matt Firmenich I.B.E.W. Local Union #357 Training Facility, 620 Leigon Way, Las Vegas, Nevada 89110 (off Bonanza, one block west of Lamb directly behind the I.B.E. W. #357 Union Hall).

Applicants must meet the following requirements

  1. Age - Be at least 18 years of age.

  2. Education - Minimum Math: Must have completed one full year of High School Algebra I with a passing grade or one post High School Algebra course with a passing grade. (pre-Algebra and/or Introduction to Algebra does not count).

  3. Aptitude Test - Must successfully meet the norms of the Aptitude Test given once all other requirements are met.


The following documents are required no later than 30 days after application date:
  1. An Official High School Transcript
  2. Copy of your birth certificate
  3. Copy of your High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  4. Military Discharge Papers - DD-214
  5. Copy of transcript of trade school, college, or any other schooling.

Beginning rate of pay for electrical apprentices is 40% of Journeyman scale. Pay upgrades are based upon completion of a minimum amount of on-the-job training hours and the completion of each school year.
