Carpenters & Millwrights
If one accepts the doctrine that:
"Tomorrow belongs to people of skill"
It can also be said that:
"Craftsmanship through apprenticeship", is the best route to a
skilled profession.

Nature of Work in Carpentry :
Framing, Wood & Metal; Ceilings, Suspended & Glue-up; Lathing; Pedestal Flooring; Concrete forms, Columns, Walls, Slabs, Tilt-ups, etc; Doors & Hardware; Cabinet Installation; Plastic Laminates; Interior Finishes, Welding; Blueprint Reading; and more.

Nature of Work for Millwrights (5 Year Apprenticeship):
Installation of Monorails, Conveyors, Machinery Turbines, Pumps and so on. Welding, Alignment, and Maintenance of Equipment.

Carpenter Apprentice wage rates are based on a 4 (four) year progressive scale. Starting wages are 50% of Journeyman scale. The apprentice receives an avenge of 2 (two) raises per year.

Training Duration
The program is a four year combination of school & on the job training. The apprentice attends one week of school approximately every 12 weeks. He/She is required to complete 16 units of instruction over the 4 year apprenticeship: and work 5,200 hours on the job.

Applicants must meet the following requirements

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.

  2. Be abel to physically perform the essential function of the trade with reasonable accommodations.

  3. Provide the following documentation:
    A) High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    B) Valid Picture Identification
    C) Job Corp papers (if applicable)
    D) Military Papers (if applicable)

  4. Participate in an oral interview & orientation.
